Would You Sign Up For A Job In The Asbestos Jobs Industry? [ March 11th, 2010 ] Posted in » Health

It was probably up until around 1985 when the asbestos industry - mainly manufacturing and building companies - had been using asbestos liberally. And as a matter of fact, the US Army also had jobs in that area. Well, I was born in the early seventies and as I got old enough to help my father working on our house, we used to cut, saw and trim asbestos sheets almost every day to install them on the outside walls.

But let’s go back to the manufactures and construction companies in the asbestos field; over 1.5 million employees in the USA, to my surprise, are still working in the asbestos production or installation industry.

High in popularity are asbestos abatement jobs and asbestos removal jobs. Probably because more and more homeowners realized that they live in a house that contains asbestos and therefore want to be rather safe than sorry, so they decided to have it removed.

That’s a good thing in a way, considering our overall unemployment rate. However, people who were hired for those jobs are clearly at a higher risk since they are being exposed to the material on daily basis. Therefore, the law requires companies who provide jobs in that field, to install the highest safety standards in order to protect their employees.

But they are still exposing themselves to a great deal of danger, nonetheless. No protection suit or breathing mask can filter out the microscopically small particles that will eventually find their way into the respiratory system. It is common knowledge that asbestos is the cause for disease like mesothelioma and asbestosis.

And that explains the fact that we have quite a few law firms out there, solely offering services tailored to asbestos lawsuits and asbestos settlements. If a person can prove that his asbestos related illness was caused by an unsafe working environment, he will have a good chance of getting compensation money awarded.

A lot of money is involved in mesothelioma class actions; it’s more or less a type of a collective lawsuit. But all the money aside, working with asbestos is always a dangerous task.

So make sure that you are protected to the best you can whenever you have to work with this toxic material. Mesothelioma is a devastating cancer that grows slowly. It has poor prognosis. Therefore, everybody who employs in the asbestos industry is required by law to provide their employees with a safe environment.

The author of this article is a kidney cancer patient. On his website, he writes about cancer related topics like asbestosis info and collects stories such as “asbestos removal jobs

What You Should Know About A Jump Higher Program

by Bart Icles

There are tons and tons of jump higher programs that can be accessed through the worldwide web. If you are looking for a jump higher program, it appears that the internet is your best resource. With the hundreds and thousands of jump higher programs posted on the internet, it can be confusing and challenging to select one that would best work for you. In some cases, you might have to spend months on switching from one program to another before you can discover the one that is right for you. To save you from this kind of trouble, it can be helpful to know the truth behind jump higher programs.

If you are thinking that there is one jump higher program that will work for everybody, better think again. There is no such thing as one program fits all. Remember that we are all different and we all have unique needs. Just because this jump higher program worked for your friends does not mean it will work the same way for you. So before you decide to purchase or enrol yourself to a jump higher program, you need to evaluate your needs first and what goals you would want to achieve after religiously following a jump higher routine.

You also need to remember that the main reason why you are purchasing a jump higher routine is that you want to increase your vertical leap. So before you make the actual purchase, it is best that you see to it that it is going to be worth the cost. How would you know if it works? A jump higher program must have some kind of testing system so you would know where to start from.

It is also best for you to have a jump higher routine that is dynamic in nature. It must be able to cover all the areas of jump training, including jump exercises, weight training, and plyometric workouts. Always check a jump higher program before you make the purchase. If it does not cover even just one area, you can miss out on developing your full jump potential. Moreover, it must also have training routines for those who are just starting out their program and for those who have progressed through more advanced levels.

Of course, you would also want to take a look at the cost of a jump higher program. Jump training programs should not cause some strain on your pocket, especially if they are not giving the kind of training that you really need. You should leave no room for false promises as you are not only causing distress on your pocket, you can also hurt yourself by going through jump trainings that are not fit for your needs.

Laser Liposuction And Weight Loss

by Harry Mann

There is a good chance that if you have seriously put thought as well as work on trying to lose weight without yielding any positive results at all that you are considering to just stop trying altogether. It is understandable to become disheartened after years of fruitless efforts and painstaking discipline you have practiced.

Should you be open to the idea of a surgery but would rather prefer that you do not get cut all too much, there is a chance that you might be a good candidate for minimally invasive procedures that will aid in addressing your weight loss needs. One of the advantages that the combination of modern medicine and advanced technology provide is that they give a chance for individuals to experience significant change without having to take enormous risks.

Laser liposuction is one of the least invasive weight loss procedures that you should consider if you are raring to see actual results in your body. It works very similarly to normal liposuction procedures but it poses lesser risks so you do not have to worry too much about negative ramifications to your health or the process of recovery after you have had the operation.

Among the various benefits of opting for the laser liposuction is that you can be back to normal in no more than two days unlike most weight loss surgeries which will render you stranded in bed for weeks in order to allow the deep cuts to heal. You can immediately go back to work and go about your business without too much hassle or any danger of complications.

If you are wondering what to expect from this surgery, you must know that it is primarily a local procedure, that is, there are only certain parts of your body on which it can be performed such as the face, arms, and neck. If you are looking to reduce fat from your belly or thighs, you would need a separate surgery for that specific purpose.

Although there are very low risks involved in laser liposuction, you should always consult your physician first before undergoing the surgery in order to prevent the onset of any and all complications as they can arise at any form of surgery that would involve opening up your body cavity to whatever extent. If you are fairly healthy, you will most likely get cleared for the surgery and you can be up and about in no time at all.

One of the most important things you need to be prepared for is the cost of the laser liposuction. Although it is not as exorbitant as other weight loss procedures, it is still a great deal of money that you have to spend so you need to determine whether or not you are financially capable to handle this enormous undertaking. Insurance would most definitely cover this as it is an elective surgery so the money will come out of your pocket directly.

Once you have decided that you will undergo the procedure and that you are financially capable and healthy for the surgery, the only thing left to do is find a reputable hospital where you will have the surgery done. It will also be good to find a great surgeon so you know you are in good hands.

by Dana Hawkes

Acai berry is a very wholesome fruit and tastes nice. It has been a staple food of the Brazilian people since centuries. Just now, this fruit has gained international fame because of its healing properties and has emerged as a super food for day-to-day life. Since its popularity is rising tremendously, doctors are trying to research its anti-cancer potential as well.

Acai berry is basically grown in the Amazon River basins of Brazil. These grape size berries are dark purple in color and contain important antioxidants.

Free radical molecules are very injurious to health and can be caused by anything, cigarette smoking, pesticides, or even with exercise, thereby, damaging cells and DNA.

There are numerous diseases like the Alzheimer’s disease, Cancer, and Arthritis which are caused due to free radical damage. Nature has provided us with antidotes to the problem of free radicals in the form of fruits and vegetables which act as antioxidants. Antioxidants support to strengthen cells and protect the body from free radicals. The proportion of antioxidant power present in a given food is measured in terms of ORAC (Oxygen Radical Absorbance Capacity score).

The acai berry has got the topmost proportion of antioxidants and this is proved by the fact that ORAC score of acai berry is 167. It is far ahead when compared to blueberries which contain 32 and apples which have a score of 14. The risk of cancer and other diseases is on a rise and so it becomes all the more necessary that we increase the intake of foods with high antioxidant content.

A research was conducted on cell-culture model at The University of Florida which showed that acai berries lead to self-destruction of the human cancer cells. This shows that acai berries will have the same effect on human beings as well. Although it has not been proved yet that acai berries help to fight cancer, the research is definitely quite positive.

The Proven Ways To Build Muscle Fast

by Emmanuel Palmer

Many times people work out to shed the pounds and maybe lift some weights when they’re feeling extra industrious that day. What about you? Is this you or do you belong to the rare breed who are up for the challenge of packing on some serious muscle? If so, then read on to find effective ways to build muscle fast.

For some people, building muscle mass may be easier than losing weight and keeping it off. Either way, the same persistence, and discipline should be exercised in whatever training you decide to take on. Some bodybuilders relish the idea of hitting the gym hard every day; do not do this. Make sure you spend only a maximum of an hour and a half per session about 2 to 4 times a week. Take the days in between as an opportunity to rest well. Sleep allows the body to repair and grow the tears in muscle tissues obtained from exercise.

When exercising, use power in lifting the weight and control in lowering. This will increase your body mass, stamina and strength. Always ensure that you have a correct form so that you don’t risk injuring parts of your body. Many times, all it takes is a shift in position to improve the quality of the whole set of drills.

Beginners usually start with lower weight loads and higher repetitions. As you continue to progress, your body becomes more familiar to receiving physical stress that training gives. Constantly push your body to its maximum endurance capacity. As much as you are able, have a spotter nearby to assist you in the heavier loads. Never compromise your safety in your training even if you are in a rush to build your muscles.

Anyone who has attempted to work out in the past knows the familiar face of muscle soreness and it is felt in the next few days. When certain muscles are especially sore, do not exercise them until they feel normal again. They need to be restored properly but you can train the other muscle groups in the meantime. For example, train the chest and biceps one day; then work out your back and shoulders another day. A 1 to 2 minute rest in between sets is advisable.

If you plan on losing weight, maintain a high cardiovascular, low calorie diet; for building muscle mass you need a low aerobic training, high calorie diet. Yes, it’s time to chow down some serious calories-around 3000 units depending on your particular body type. Don’t go and binge on food high in saturated fat. Go for a diet rich in protein, carbohydrates and fiber. Study the market on recommended muscle building supplements and protein shakes that you can consume to pack in the essential calories and nutrients you need daily.

Ways to build muscle fast and supporting products are a dime a dozen in the Internet. Sort out the good from trash by making a careful analysis and comparison of them with the best of your ability. You have one body to keep and take care of so be prudent and stay healthy always.

The Development Of Chronic Back Pain ” Part Two

by Jonathan Blood Smyth

The inter-vertebral discs are made up of two main segments: the outer shell called the annulus fibrosis and the inner material called the nucleus pulposus. The outer lining is tough and has many layers like those of an onion with the different layers being oriented at differing angles to give strength in many directions. The layers of the annulus pass through the vertebrae above and below them, binding them all strongly together and meaning that a disc cannot actually slip out. The outer layers of the annulus are supplied with nociceptors and proprioceptive nerves, an indication they can send both pain and positional information back up to the nervous system.

The nucleus of the disc is encompassed by the inner layers of the annulus and this gives compressive strength to the structure. About two-thirds of the disc is made up of the nucleus and it supports about 75% of the compressive loading. 2.5 times their weight in water can be attracted and held by the large molecules which make up the nucleus, which is 90% water until we get into our 20s, when it starts a slow decline over the next four decades to sixty-five percent. A blood supply is only present in the outer one third of the annulus so the remainder of the annulus and the nucleus must rely on the diffusion of water and nutrients from the vertebrae to remain healthy.

The annulus can be stressed repeatedly by loading and twisting forces which cause microscopic trauma to the fibres and result in annular tears developing. Circumferential tears track around the disc between the layers and radial tears cross the layers from inside to out, with a combination of these tears sometimes developing into larger splits from the inside nuclear material to the exterior. This can permit extrusion of the disc material out of the disc and inflammation or compression of the exiting nerve roots, leading to severe leg pain known as sciatica.

Around eighty to ninety percent of the weight transmitted through the spine goes through the rear third of the disc in the first two decades of life. The stresses gradually move posteriorly as the changes in the spine progress with age and the discs become narrower, throwing stress onto the facet joints, which become enlarged and develop bone outgrowths. The degenerative processes cause progressive narrowing of both the nerve exit canals and the central spinal canal which can cause nerve compression and produce leg and back pain. In older people this is often diagnosed as spinal stenosis which gives leg pain on walking and at times requires operation.

It has been shown experimentally that the spinal structures which include the inter vertebral discs can be sources of pain inputs. In people undergoing operation, direct stimuli to the disc have been indicated to be painful. The proteoglycan macromolecules which make up the internal disc structure and attract water gradually break down into smaller molecules with age and replacement is slow. The steady breakdown and dehydration of the disc is increased by the fissuring and tears which develop in the annulus as the poor internal blood supply is unable to prevent the progress of degeneration.

The poor nutrition which passes through the vertebral endplates may be partially responsible for chronic spinal lesions, but there is a poor connection between degenerative changes and vertebral pain. This makes the interpretation of x-rays and MRI scans difficult in terms of attributing a cause to a patient’s pain which correlates with the investigation findings.

Altered biochemistry in the inter-vertebral discs may correlate with pain experience as discs which are painful have been found to have lower pH than those which are not painful. Heightened pain experience and increased behavioural pain reactions are producible in animal studies by reducing disc pH. In animals whose discs have been experimentally deformed there are increased levels of neuropeptide production, potentially modulating pain in the nervous system. Microscopic tissue trauma, mechanical stresses and changes in tissue chemistry may all heighten production of inflammation chemicals and tissue breakdown enzymes, further increasing the degenerative changes in the discs and spine.

If You Have Bad Vision and Need It Set Right Read My Story about My Lasik Surgery Encounter

by Frank Froggatt

If you have done any research or looked around at some of the message boards and chat rooms on the Internet concerning LASIK surgery, you are probably wondering why anybody would want to get LASIK surgery in the first place let alone schedule a procedure. The various Lasik clinics sound anywhere from impersonal to something similar to Dr. Frankenstein’s lab, and the Lasik procedure itself sounds, well, surreal. It seems like the only people that would get Lasik are those with such bad vision that they cannot get out of bed without their glasses on.

If you have a few minutes, I would like to provide you with my story of how LASIK helped me. First of all, my vision is not good, but not terrible either. For instance, whenever I go to the movies I don’t need to wear my glasses, but when I drive around town, in order to see the street signs correctly to react in time I do. So for me, Lasik was not necessary, but I figured it would simplify my life. I am outdoors very frequently, backpacking, climbing hills, and mountain biking. Glasses have always had a very short lifespan with me, and quite frequently I am playing in the dirt which is really a horrible thing when you have contact lenses. LASIK eye surgery look very appealing to me for these reasons.

After reading the paragraph above you might think that I’m kind of athletic, and it’s true that I am, so you might be thinking why it would be afraid of such a thing as a little scalpel? Technically, LASIK doesn’t even really use a scalpel but instead it uses a thing called a microkeratome blade which is still an incredibly sharp object that is quite close to my eye as part of the procedure. LASIK surgeons these days don’t have to use a microkeratome blade anymore though, as they have advanced technology that allows them to make the incision with a laser instead, which is far better than blade. This is the fact that nobody is perfect, and I myself have had way too many accidents to feel comfortable with somebody getting near my eye with a sharp object.

Well I went and talked to three completely different and independent LASIK surgeons, and every one of them assured me that as a 28-year-old man in a really great health, with mild to moderate nearsightedness that I was probably one of the best candidates for a successful LASIK eye surgery procedure. After discussing this procedure with the surgeons, I scheduled my operation with the surgeon that had by far the best record, and who spent the most time going over the process with me.

I didn’t feel any pain during the LASIK surgery, though I took the sedative that they offered me and I even accepted the comfort of a little teddy bear that they offered. The only strange thing I remember about the Lasik procedure itself was a smell, something vaguely like hair burning. I am sure that it was my eye that was burning. It’s probably a good thing that I didn’t know about that smell before I went into the procedure, because if I had I might not have gone in.

It’s been a few years now, and I suppose I was a perfect client for LASIK, as they still have 20/20 vision and it has remained stable for a long time now. I say that if you are a good candidate for a Lasik vision correction procedure, grab that teddy bear and go on in.

Liposuction Financing Alternatives

by Tom Moseley

Due to the rising costs of cosmetic surgery, there are numerous payment options available to you nowadays. This article will elaborate on the numerous options available.

An unfortunate fact is the most insurance companies will categorize cosmetic surgery as an elective procedure. Therefore, if you choose to undergo a liposuction, you can expect to be billed anywhere between $2000 and $8000. As you can imagine, there are not many people who can pull this type of money out of a hat.

To make matters worse, the cosmetic surgeon will require payment in the pre-operative stage of treatment. Of course, he or she would like to be paid in cash, as this assures the plastic surgeon of being properly paid.

However, not many people can pay before they undergo the liposuction procedure. As such, the surgeon usually offers other liposuction financing options to his or her clients. Most obvious, is the fact that the surgeon will accept either the patients credit card number or will take a personal check. Surprisingly, some doctor offices will also offer loans.

For some, the loan option may be the best choice for their particular situation. Now, you may be wondering why a doctor would do this. It is simply a technique to increase his or her profit margin.

To qualify for this option, you must have a good credit score. As you can imagine, the surgeon will only offer this option to those he feels will pay their bill. To determine what qualifies as a good credit score, you will have to contact the surgeons office.

Even if this is not an option, there are still other liposuction financing alternatives out there. Specifically, there are companies that cater to those who need a cosmetic surgery loan. As an example of a plastic surgery loan, your monthly payment can be as low as $90 a month for a liposuction.

A last alternative is to obtain a credit card that specializes in cosmetic surgery loans. As these cards specialize in financing cosmetic surgery, the terms can be very advantageous.
